The Academy Awards are the biggest red carpet event of the season and if you’re a fan of celebrities and fashion, this is your Superbowl! Last night, as it neared midnight and I found myself wondering WHY this felt so dragged out, I realized that I had settled in for a six hour marathon of television.

If you didn’t have such endurance, here’s the lowdown: Argo won for Best Picture and your Best Actor & Actress and best Supporting Actress and Actor were Daniel Day-Lewis, Jennifer Lawrence, Anne Hathaway and Christoph Waltz respectively.

As always, the actual awards show had its entertaining moments, like the musical performances… but was so drawn out that it was a bit tiring. Nevertheless, we walked away with some stunning fashion trends on our minds that we can’t wait to see in some future weddings!

The Best Actors and Actresses above show off the most prominent red carpet trends of the night: pale colored gowns and rich navy blues.

(side note: Both actresses wore backwards necklaces! New trend?)

Bridal Inspiration:
Much like in the red carpet events leading up to the 2013 Oscars, all the biggest stars were seen in pale colored gowns. While, these gowns are all a “safe” choice, we’re glad to see so many bridal inspirations in the awards show circuit. If you’re a bride that wants to go for glamour, these are the gowns to look to. Strapless gowns continue to be a popular and flattering silhouette and extremely detailed beading and embellishments still reign.

Navy Blues:
Much like at the SAG Awards (where we broke down the color trends), blue was another dominating color. While the ladies all rocked royal hues at the last red carpet, this time, Award winning Actors were also shaking up their tux game with midnight shades. Even the youngest actress to be nominated for the Best Actress award, Little Q, was rocking the blue with her little stuffed puppy purse. We’re sensing that even though pastels will rule this spring, black tie wedding affairs will feature plenty of Navy Blues!

What did you think about the glamour last night on the red carpet? Did the stars bring it or were you underwhelmed?
