Real Weddings: Andreia & Steve
When: Our wedding was on Saturday, June 1st, 2013.
Where: Our wedding ceremony took place at Holy Martyrs of Japan Church in Bradford. Our reception took place at the Steam Whistle Brewery in Toronto. Both Steve and I are social butterflies and much of our relationship has always been based on keeping a string social life with our family and friends – these social events and gatherings quite often include a cold pint or two so we felt celebrating with our favourite people at a beer brewery was the perfect and most reflective atmosphere of the two of us. The Steam Whistle Brewery couldn’t have been a more perfect backdrop – the city view, the rustic brick walls and wood beams fit our rustic/chic theme perfectly.
We quite often describe our wedding day as magical – especially as we reflect back on the moments that made up our day. Our wedding day came together perfectly. Right from getting up in the morning, getting hair and make up done, getting dressed, saying our I do’s and celebrating with all of our favourite people – it all could not have been filled with more happiness and love. It was truly like all the wedding planning stress vanished and all we were left with was a feeling of pure bliss.
We chose Henkaa for a number of reasons. Before I brought my bridesmaids in to the Henkaa store, I made my own trip in to learn what Henkaa was all about. The last thing I ever wanted to do was make my girls wear something that I couldn’t even see myself wanting to wear. Once I slipped that beautiful dress on, I was completely sold. It was everything that every bridesmaid dress should be: comfortable, timeless, affordable and BEAUTIFUL. My girls loved their experience at the Henkaa store and could hardly wait to wear their dresses on the big day! The fact that the dresses were once size fits most and could be purchased and taken home that same day, made the process for all of us an absolute breeze. We love Henkaa!
As we reflect back on our magical day, it is extremely difficult to pinpoint one favourite moment or detail.. Mostly because so many moments and details were so special in different ways. There is one moment that I remember though, one which I will always hold in my heart. It was a feeling of being surrounded by so much love, joy and support from our dearest family and friends all in one room. It is not everyday that all of these precious people can be brought together. I remember sitting back in my seat at our table and really taking in that moment – the music, the lights, the conversations at all the tables filled with our most loved ones, the happiness in the air, my amazing new husband sitting to my right and my heart feeling like it was literally overflowing with so much love and gratitude.. I felt like not only like the happiest bride, but the luckiest woman in the world!
